Cody Bellinger - 13

BP - 20
DOB: 07/13/1995 Height/Weight: 6’4” 180 lbs.
Bats/Throws: L/L The

Good: Big kid, big raw, big leverage, big bat speed, big noise. 2016 proved he wasn’t just a Cal League mirage. Bellinger’s not a traditional corner masher either. He’s lean and athletic and has even been spotting Tulsa and OKC in center field from time to time. The power potential is plus-plus, He could win some gold gloves at first base if that’s his ultimate home.

Blake Rutherford - 37

BP - 50
DOB: 5/2/1997 Height/Weight: 6’3” 195 lbs.
Bats/Throws: L/R

The Good: Although he dropped some due to perceived bonus demands, Rutherford was arguably the best prep player in the draft. He has a pure, left-handed hitting stroke, and while there is only average power in his frame at present, he could easily add some strength and pop as he gets older, and the hit tool should allow whatever he ends up with to play in games. He’s an above-average runner at present, and while I’d expect him to lose a step as he ages and fills out, it’s an athletic frame and his speed should settle in at average.

Clint Frazier - 21

BP - 10
DOB: 09/06/1994 Height/Weight: 6’1” 190 lbs.
Bats/Throws: R/R

The Good: Freakish bat speed. Easy plus power with potential for more. One of the few right-handed hitters whose swing gets described as pretty or beautiful. Excellent overall athlete, above-average runner, and aggressive, physical player. Looks and feels the part of a superstar. Frazier has as much overall offensive upside as any player still in the minors...

Nick Senzel - 17

BP - 16

DOB: 6/29/1995 Height/Weight: 6’1” 205 lbs. Bats/Throws: R/R

The Good: Senzel received the biggest bonus in the 2016 draft class, and he backed up the paycheck on the field. He’s a potential five-tool third baseman with plus hit and above-average power grades making him a potential middle-of-the-order bat at the hot corner. His defensive tools aren’t quite as exciting—not that you’d care at this point—but he’s a competent glove at third with a plus arm.

Kevin Maitan

Fangraphs
Hit - 30/60 Raw Power - 55/60 Game Power - 20/55 Run - 50/40 Fielding - 40/55 Throw - 60/60

Scouting Report
Scouts had already identified Maitan as prospect of note before he had turned 13 and, within a year, his body and offensive ability started maturing in such a way that he began garnering Miguel Cabrera comparisons. He had a near ideal physique, smooth defensive actions at shortstop with plenty of arm for the position, and not just usable but potentially impactful swings from both sides of the plate — as well as power projection to accompany it.
